“You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself into one.”
With a view to promote positive thinking, team spirit and overall dynamism in students, MBS International School, Dwarka, conducted Personality Development Hobby Lobby Summer Online camp for students of Grade Nursery-VIII from May 1, 2021 onwards. The camp aimed at grooming the students through sensitizing them about proper behaviour, socially and professionally in both formal and informal circumstances. Initiating with the building of self-confidence, importance of time management and optimism in life, much aid was provided in the overall and holistic development of the students. Students were told how important their dreams and desires are for developing their personality. It was stressed that they need to have a passion and determination in life. Students were also given tips on how to increase their self-esteem & self-discipline, improvise communication skills, develop positive body language, maintain mental well-being, look after their physical fitness & health, become a good and responsible decision maker etc. They were also encouraged to be optimistic and to have a positive approach about everything in life. Most importantly, it was emphasised that they should love themselves and never lose self-confidence.
Students actively participated in the activities and focused on the positive aspects of their personality. They learnt how to embrace the rejections and criticisms. It was a well-thought of activity for the students helping them to seek out their motives and embrace themselves. The children got highly benefitted from the Personality Development Sessions.
“Challenges are what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”
Maths seems just a brew of the challenges that we face and the trials that we go through to solve them. Vedic Mathematics is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are introduced to the beautifully unified and easy Vedic methods. The advantage of Vedic Mathematics is that it allows for uncomplicated problem-solving methods for difficult arithmetic problems and large sums. Empowering the minds of our students, MBS International School sought to facilitate them with Vedic Maths classes as a part of Hobby Lobby Summer Online Camp starting from May 1,2021 for the students of Grade III-VIII. The main motto of these classes was to make our students realise that Vedic math discloses a world of complex and beautiful patterns in nature reflecting themselves in the number world, and vice versa. The vision behind organizing these classes was to lay a strong foundation for basic mathematics and to get rid of math phobia from students’ mind. The students were excited to learn and realised that there is more than one way to solve a problem which made the practice of the subject more interesting and easier. Students were mesmerized to learn the new tricks and techniques for solving complex questions of multiplication, subtraction, division, square root and cube roots, addition, Magic square etc. They solved all the sums using the techniques taught to them and were excited to be the first one to answer the question. The explanation offered by our Mathematics expert made the processes clear for the students which helped to increase their computational skills in a wide area of problems, ensuring both speed and accuracy, strictly based on rational and logical reasoning.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the techniques of fast calculations through a series of fun activities. The enthused participation of the students was outstanding and invigorating.
“Dance can make kids happy through the sheer virtue of movement and rhythm.”
From Jazz to Zumba, Salsa to ballet, folk to classical, dancers always have a delightful time. Dancing is always fun, but it becomes even more fun-filled and exciting when it is done in groups. It is also considered as one of the best ways to keep the children engaged and provides ample opportunities for the students to learn various skills and utilise their time fruitfully.
On its way to unbridle the latent talent of children MBS International School organized Hobby Lobby -Summer Online Activity classes for the students of grade Nursery to VIII from May 1, to May 14, 2021.
Each activity witnessed exhilarated anticipation and excitement to learn new skill. One such activity Beats’ N Steps was conducted where there was immense participation from the students.
Some of the dance forms that our students learnt during the classes were Hip-Hop & Tutting includes locking, popping, breaking, tap dancing and other styles typically performed with intricate movements of the fingers. On the other hand, students thoroughly enjoyed doing Jazz where they all danced with power, technique, confidence and style. Whereas through our Flamenco Dance sessions children became highly-expressive and they showcased their dance beautifully by hand clapping, percussive footwork, and intricate hands and body movements. They also learnt few moves of Contemporary Dance style which strived them to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Overall, it was a really fun-filled camp where students learnt to concentrate, observe actions and listen to guidance from teachers and to be disciplined, because they have to memorize and execute specific steps and body movements that require practice and perseverance with combined hard work. At the end all students were happy to see their positive learning outcomes. The camp ended with a positive note that “Dancers don’t need any wings to fly.”
“To have much learning, to be skillful in handicraft, well-trained in discipline, and to be of good speech -- this is the greatest blessing.”
As soon as the vacation starts, kids can be seen making a beeline for summer camps to turn into a fun time. However, Covid-19 has played a spoilsport this year. But, worry not, for the summer camps have taken the online route. To bring out the creative expression of the students and also to amplify their handicraft skills, ‘Do it Yourself Activity’ was conducted in ‘Hobby Lobby – Online Summer Camp by MBS International School for Grades Nursery to VIII from May 1, 2021 to May 14, 2021.
The objective of the activity was to strengthen the artistry of imagination and creativity in the students. Different craft activities were demonstrated for the students to make multicultural creation with origami, earthen pots, colours and different decoration material. The young learners displayed their artistic skills through an array of handicrafts such as Vegetable painting (Mandala Art, Warli Art), Flower bouquet using origami, Flower Vase, Crazy Frog, etc. Such craft activities are a great way to enhance students’ creativity and thinking skills. The students participated with immense zeal and enthusiasm.
The event was to engross the hidden talent of the students. The students showed their abilities through art wherein they expressed and exhibited their feelings and their talent through their art work.
All the students were quite enthusiastic about preparing these handicrafts with vivid ideas and vibrant colors. There was an air of excitement and enthusiasm as eager and committed artists toiled to create masterpieces. It was a splendid show of masterstrokes by our young and talented masters. As the camp progressed, we realised the kids were very much involved despite technical issues. The kids remained connected. Even the parents thoroughly enjoyed it.
“Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It’s about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity.”
– Guy Fieri
The searing summer break days demand for something creative and exciting. At the same time the current pandemic situation has brought all of us under stress. To combat the stress during this time it was decided to create opportunities which would lead to enhancement of the skills in various fields. With an aim of stimulating the students’ imagination and skills MBS International School, Dwarka organised an online Hobby Lobby Camp from May 1,2021-May 14 2021. Summer camps equip children, kids, and teens with skills-based to face reality and contain curriculum apart from academic learning.
One of the activities of the Hobby Lobby Camp was Cooking without Fire. It was organized for the students of Pre School-Grade V. This activity aimed to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without flame and the advantages of healthy eating.
This activity provided a platform for the students to foster their creativity and decision-making skills and also help them explore their hidden talents and discover new areas of interest. The students prepared a variety of healthy snacks thrice a week. The activity gave a platform to the students to demonstrate their culinary knowledge and skills related to: developing and following a recipe, preparation of a dish and finally presenting it an aesthetic way. They put in their best efforts in preparing the dishes. Cooking demands attention, patience, and above all, a respect for the gifts of the earth. It is a form of worship, a way of giving thanks and this truly could be seen among the zeal and enthusiasm of the children while cooking.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this activity. It was a visual treat to see the children giving wings to their imagination and learning to make new dishes for themselves as well as their families.
It was yet another fun filled activity and it honed their skills which was appreciated and acknowledged by the teachers.
