The festival of Basant Panchami, which marks the end of winter and the onset of spring. This day is considered to be the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, as she is said to have appeared on earth to eradicate the sadness of all living beings, through the gift of speech. This is why Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, art, science and technology is worshipped on this day.

M.B.S International School commemorated this special day with great fervor on January 24, 2023. Keeping the tradition of inculcating values in today’s modern times, the school organized Pooja to venerate Goddess Saraswati and invoke her blessings. The children devotionally rendered the “Saraswati Vandana” as they implored the goddess to bestow the gift of knowledge and wisdom on them.

On this auspicious occasion all the students were dressed in yellow-colored attires and offered floral prayers. The tiny-tots of Pre-Primary unfurled the ebullience of the day by depicting their artistic skills. On the other hand, the students of Grade I and II presented their rhetoric skills by speaking few lines on the occasion of Basant Panchami. Everyone enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.

            Brown Colour Day Report

The appeal of colour is universal. It plays a vital role in our lives and how we respond to our surroundings. The colours you surround yourself with, can influence your perspective and emotions as well as those around you. It is a source of pleasure to everybody. One can access the value of colour in three ways in light, vision and pigment. To have those values in the children of MBS International School, students of KG were introduced with Shades of Brown on 19th January 2023.

Shades of Brown give us a sense of strength and reliability. Children were dressed up in brown colour attire and were shown a presentation on the things and animals they see brown in colour. They were apprised about colour mixing and creating different shades of brown. Hands- on experiences were given via Fork printing activity where children made a Bear face with forks and brown colour. They also brought brown- colour objects from home and shared few lines about it.

By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they were able to connect theory and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

Therefore, MBS International School decided to celebrate Lohri on 16 January 2023 in the school vicinity with euphoria and excitement. Lohri is the festival full of energy that incites a feeling of happiness and prosperity for all the people and is considered to be the new beginning of life with warmth and love. The school was decorated with colourful buntings and balloons to welcome children as it is their first day in school after winter break.

The harvest festival was introduced to children through a video, Handprint Campfire Craft and Card Making activity. Children enjoyed dancing on Dhol beats and bonfire. The happiness of celebrating the first festival of the year can be seen on the faces of the little ones.
